When seeing Marty talk about the fixes he did to Max's stuff he mentioned optimizations to Ian's birds gif and and other battery optimizations.

Can I be assured that if I'm using UniAW6.21_WB that I have all current optimizations?

Reason I ask - is that the last two days I've been rockin' Ferlop's most recent SB theme for e6. It uses Dacal's Basalt animation. And my gosh.. I'm at 12 hours into my day of moderate normal use for me and my battery is still at 47%.. That's astounding.

I always use these usage optimizations:
    • Location Services all off
    • PUSH off
    • Brightness 50%
    • NC - minimal services.

With those usage patterns and my daily regimen of moderate to heavy iFile work and MMI app reading - with UniAW6.21_WB and two ind element Drifter iWidgets running I have to recharge my battery by 8 hours into my usage day.

Without the two Drifter iWidgets I gain 20 minutes max.

Even with birds turned off (both sets) I gain another 30 minutes max.

Is that the best we can do, gang ?

Is the posted 6.21 as optimized as can be? Or did I miss a pre-6.3 patch?
This is off topic. It has been stated before that we use this for enjoyment regardless of battery usage.

Well first off the general battery efficiency of a given widget like UniAW is clearly NOT off-topic. ;-).. But I do hear you with regard to using it because we like it. I just wonder if it gets to be a point of "diminishing returns", if by merely using it it requires that you charge Your battery midday.

Still love it… Of course. Just wondering how it can run more efficiently.

I know I asked you this along time ago, King, but is it enough to have a true/false variable set to "false" (or hide) for the code to stop running in the background? Or would you actually have to remove the calls in the main.JS for it to actually not use resources?

Let's say I never intend to use the clock with the sweeping secondhand. Is setting the sweeping motion to false in config.js enough to clear battery usage?

Thought I'd go ahead and share this overlay pack I showed off last night.

    https://www.dropbox.com/s/53308ju803...%3A29%20AM.mp4

Has a slide down weather info wall when screen is touched. Has 148 day and 148 night rotating wallpapers that change every lock of device, I eliminated duplicates this time.
Has tons of weatherinfoBG overlays that you can switch in and out with a simple rename, I just can't stop playing with these overlays lol.

I have only configured i5 since it was just meant for myself, everything is in there to set it up the same on a i4 though.
Credits to usual suspects, Ian, Dacal, Chevy, Max, Marty, King, MJ, Sigit, Durben, RKO and everyone else here.

Depends on how the code is written, but typically there is a check at the beginning of the function that checks to see what the switch is set for and then it will just bypass the code. But you need to look, as sometimes it's just a question of what gets returned and the code is run anyway. If you really want to be lean, then removing the code altogether is the best way.

Most things in the UniAW are coded to cancel if you switch it off in the Config file, the second hand sweep will cancel and not run in the bg, same goes for birds, balloons etc.., the clock has to run as it is needed for weather updates and stuff.
Most efficient clock is digital without seconds.

Animated gifs are not very efficient, not like HTML animations, if you are very concerned about your battery, switch off birds and sweeping second hand first, followed by wiper & balloons. if you still have battery issues then the UniAW is not for you M8.

    Hi all,

...here we have Max's mods from page #1 with the following updates:

    UniAW6.2_LS_MAX.theme (FIXED)

    - forecast issue fixed. Now has 1-day forecast (background & formatting changed - see screenshot)
    - heat index added (with Ian's fixed code - thank you sir )
    - "birds lag/battery fix":
    • removed double animation for regular birds and using simons gif
    • can enable either/or in config (v-birds or regular)

    - fixed for i4 AND i5

    UniAW6.2_SB_MAX.theme (FIXED)

    - forecast code fixed although SB version never used the forecast in the first place. Code for it still in UniAW6.js though
    - heat index added (with Ian's fixed code - thank you sir )
    - "birds lag/battery fix":
    • removed double animation for regular birds and using simons gif
    • can enable either/or in config (v-birds or regular)

Doesn't really mean anything. Just a test user group that was made way back when by Kyle and Cody (hence the funny name, green one is "Kyle cant figure out a usergroup" lol).
It's just a group we put members in if they want to add a little color to their name but don't necessarily fit the requirements for any of the other user groups. A way for long time members etc to stand out a little I guess you could say.

After much smacking of head I've realised that showing centigrade and mph is not as complicated as I thought. If you're in the UK, this does make more sense because we do things that way.

In uniaw6.js you need to search for obj.windunit in the section of code in ImageUploadedByModMyi1369657881.416160.jpgyour chosen language and tweak this code by adding *0.62 and replacing obj.windunit with "mph"

    document.getElementById("wind").innerHTML = "" + obj.winddir + " - " + (Math.round(obj.windspeed)*0.62) + " " + "mph"; }

    It seems to work okay.

Thanks to Ian, King, Drifter, Chevy, NewdestinyX, MJ and all the regulars on this thread that make UNIAW6 so good, and such fun to tweak.

Edit: Where I've got two of these "" I've taken out the word "Wind". Just type it in to replace. If you want the speed to one decimal place put in 0.6.
