I have got to get in on this scrolling wallpapers, they look great on Chevy's new mod. AND Simons plane mod.
Just downloaded 120 HD widescreen images, my plan is to make them the timed walls, they will change every 15 minutes (according to the time of day as MJ's original Timed walls), it will take each image exactly 15 minutes to scroll from one end to the other so it will only be a one direction scroll (right to left).
Prepare for a big change!

UniAW 6.3 update:

We have already a fully functioning Accuweather version, I have no idea how accuweather calculates the "feels like" temperature but it is way higher than Yahoo!
But now something else is in the wind so we are on hold again till we see...

Dacal also sent me a Yahoo version with the forecast from Accuweather and a "Choice" version where we can choose between Yahoo (with Accuweather forecast) or everything Accuweather, but.. there is a little thing bothering me with these two versions.

So keep your chins up, it is still being worked on.

Thanks again for your patients and special thanks to Dacal for endlessly working on this and putting up with me being too much of a perfectionist, I'm sure he wants to do this to me sometimes:

After much smacking of head I've realised that showing centigrade and mph is not as complicated as I thought. If you're in the UK, this does make more sense because we do things that way.

In uniaw6.js you need to search for obj.windunit in the section of code in Attachment 640345your chosen language and tweak this code by adding *0.62 and replacing obj.windunit with "mph"

document.getElementById("wind").innerHTML = "" + obj.winddir + " - " + (Math.round(obj.windspeed)*0.62) + " " + "mph"; }

It seems to work okay.

Thanks to Ian, Dacal, King, Drifter, Chevy, NewdestinyX, MJ and all the regulars on this thread that make UNIAW6 so good, and such fun to tweak.
Nice, thank you, saved a snap shot of this and added it to my "Useful Posts" folder.

OK, think we found the problem.

The file goes in here; var/stash/Theme/UniAW6.21_LS.theme\JavaScript\Main

Open the "Main" file folder and replace your existing UniAW6.js

No need to apologize... Sometimes, some things just take longer than we'd like. We'll stay on it till you're up and running.
Thank you for ur help ... HUGELY appreciated ... worked at last

Most things in the UniAW are coded to cancel if you switch it off in the Config file, the second hand sweep will cancel and not run in the bg, same goes for birds, balloons etc.., the clock has to run as it is needed for weather updates and stuff.
Most efficient clock is digital without seconds.

Animated gifs are not very efficient, not like HTML animations, if you are very concerned about your battery, switch off birds and sweeping second hand first, followed by wiper & balloons. if you still have battery issues then the UniAW is not for you M8.

Eye candy comes at a cost.
Oh yes! I'm well aware of the 'cost of candy', bro. No problem -- but I'm worried about 'price gouging'... LOL! Okay -- enuff with that metaphor.. But here's the deal Ian.. And you can do this test yourself. Something has happened between 6.1 and 6.21.. I believe the main changes between 6.1 and 6.2 were birds, small balloons and the addition of the Dacal options (dandelions and his sun and circle drops).. And yet when I run 6.1 with balloons full on (4) and wiper (no second hand) I don't get anywhere near the battery drain as I get running 6.21 with the EXACT SAME OPTIONS on as were ONLY available on 6.1.

I believe something happened to the code in the most recent set of 'optimizations' (ironic quotes there). Birds off, Small balloons off, Dandelions off, second hand off and running the same amount of big balloons in 6.21 is a MUCH larger battery drain than running 6.1 with "same things happening on my screen". Any of you can verify this with a simple test.

Ian - as I know you're bored now (haha) with a poor internet connection in China - surely you can do a battery test for several hours at a time. ;-).. You'll see that something's happened with 'efficiency' from 6.1 to 6.2.1 keeping the exact same animations on the screen running. Obviously there were no birds, small balloons, dandelions or dacal sun/drops in 6.1 so all that must be turned off for a fair test. But give 'er a try.. Something's different in the 'efficiency' of the code from 6.1 to 6.21 keep all animations equal running the two in comparison.

Thanks for looking into it,
Grant

Thanks again for your patients patience and.......
Ian, it's been driving me crazy when you write 'patients' for 'patience'. LOL!!!
Patients = people a doctor sees for medical attention
Patience = something you have to have in order not to want to kill Grant for his spelling policing..

So please tell me, what does a green name mean??
It means you're damned IMPORTANT around here.. RESPECT!!! (jk....... lol )

A way for long time members etc to stand out a little I guess you could say.
Okay, OKAY! My secret's out -- I feel SO exposed...

Nice job! I was thinking you needed to convert it in the js file too, but just didn't get to looking at it. I'm glad you got it sorted.

WELL DONE, Wild! Nice piece of coding for a new guy! It's cool makin' things work yourself - isn't it!!! Though if ALL of the UK needs Centigrade and MPH - the MPH versus KPH should be a config.js switch that should be included in most widgets I would think. The British number system must be used in other British territories around the world and other British-influenced cultures like India. Oh well.. We'll see. Good work!

I'll upload a dropbox link as soon as I'm back on WiFi. Like Ian in China, I have little to no internet when I'm at the cabin. I also have no running water or main electricity which is why I run this minimal-animation version of UNIAW6 to conserve battery power. With just the clouds, sun, rainbow and wiper on I find it's still lasting a day without a recharge. This adds some information to NewdestinyX's comments about switched-off animations. I'm pretty that when they are off in the config file, they are not running in the background sapping battery juice.

Edit: heading back to civilisation and internet connection now...

I'm running 6.21 WB :-)

UniAW6.0 for iph4 & iph5-minimal.png

Here is the link to the above tweak of UNIAW6.21WB. This has my MPH fix mentioned a few posts above. (Handy if you like Centigrade and MPH). If you want it back to centigrade and kmh you need to find this code in the UNIAW6.js:

document.getElementById("wind").innerHTML = "" + obj.winddir + " - " + (Math.round(obj.windspeed)*0.6) + " " + "mph"; }
break;

and replace it with the stock code of:

document.getElementById("wind").innerHTML = "" + obj.winddir + " - " + Math.round(obj.windspeed) + " " + obj.windunit; }
break;

If that's a pain, let me know and I'll post the complete non-mph version.

You'll probably notice that the wiper in my tweak is smaller, slower and takes a shorter sweep which sort of fits the minimal theme.

In the zip you'll also find the wallpaper (iphone5 size). This needs to go above UNIAW6 in Winterboard. No need for iconoclasm, it's the standard i5 layout.

I think that's what's required to get it working. If I've missed anything out or you prefer the big wiper, give me a shout and I'll show you what to change. All the changes are in the weatherfolder rain.css and showers_cloud.css.

Credit of course to Ian for the UNIAW6 code, that goes without saying :-)

Whoa there! I've noticed that some speeds have decimal places to several numbers which is not really all that good. Sorry about this, if you're after the mph tweak I'll revise it.
