    suggestion...

see if I can explain this...

Ian, I noticed your trying to simulate a sunset..

    my idea, is

you take your fullscreenweather walls. and remove the background..
    UniAW6.0 for iph4 & iph5-1.png

then you create the daynight walls to go into the background..
    UniAW6.0 for iph4 & iph5-2.png

this way the back image can change via day or night or what not..

then you put your sun at an arc, same as moon..

    UniAW6.0 for iph4 & iph5-3.png

seems as though it would be easy.

but not to me as a coder. HA

also another suggestion, can you possibly release 6.3 as 6.4 so many freakin mods, I think your newest release as 6.4 will remove all confusions sure to arise.

hell this even allows for a dual panoramic effect, the rear can move different than the front.

John, stop giving him the answers! This is how Grant learns the best. Besides that part of the UniAW doesn't really change the city value.

    Grant

Take a deep breath and try and absorb what I'm explaining. You are limited to the options for location:

    City
    County
    Neighborhood
    State
    Country

When we used the cityGPS variable, it is just using one of the other options in place of the "city" feed. There is a little bit of error checking back and forth to make sure that something gets output, as not everyone has a returned value for this query.

Yes, if you notice, I have not just told you which one of the above it is looking for as that is what I want you to figure out. So again, you need to pull the results of the yahoo feed and figure what exactly you want to use for your location.

Or you can just trust me in that it is simply just built into the location.js file.

Let me know how you make out.
Brian, I appreciate what you're trying to do.. But I really wasn't asking for a lesson this time. I was asking for Ian's help because I was stumped. If it were as easy as you said - then I could simply replace the location.js in my widget not outputting the city I expect - with UniAW's location.js; add the var CityGPS = true to the config.js, and the widget I'm working on would suddenly start reporting correct city. It actually breaks the widget to use UniAW's location.js. So this time I came here asking, basically, "why not"?

When you've been coding for as long as you have - it's easy to think "everyone can just see it".. But that's not true. Good teachers occasionally need to give examples and occasionally spoon feed.

You imply that I "learn best" by "groping in the dark with no flashlight" - but what I've learned to date has been because of people like Derrick and Jess and Ian & David who knew when I just "needed the answer". I'd rather work on the bigger projects like I'm working on with the Panoramic sky animated movement. The city not pulling correctly for me in Drifter's Ind Element City was just a little annoyance that I wanted a quick fix for for personal use. When was the last time I asked for any code help?

Again I appreciate what you're trying to do, Brian, and you're generally right about me - but you picked the wrong "occasion" to "throw him in the deep end and see if he can swim". Just please give me the code responsible for relying on a GPS city derived name as opposed to the yahoo feed's city name. I don't want county. I don't want neighborhood, I don't want state - as none of those are city names except occasionally neighborhood - but neighborhood in America only ever outputs "township". I don't want that either. I want my phone to derive the city I'm in's name from whatever source it uses when var cityGPS = true. Which is a different source (feed) than when that var = false.

That's as best as I can explain it.

Ok then I stand corrected. I guess I can't help you here as you've still not looked at the feed to determine what element that has your city in it. You may not even be using the correct feed. But without you looking at them, we will never know. This is the core of jquery, but I guess you don't need to learn that as it appears you have learned all you want and are just looking for answers. I can respect that. Post a link to your widget and the city that you want displayed and we will sort it for you.

Please don't get snarky with me, bro. Of course I want to learn.. In this particular instance I've been feeling like you don't even actually understand my question. If you believe that reason I get a reading of Lyndell when I'm in West Chester PA is because Lyndell is the neighborhood, country or state name -- then you're clearly not understanding the question/problem.

When I turn varCityGPS to OFF in UniAW it too pulls Lyndell instead of West Chester. (10 miles apart). Lyndell is not a neightborhood, township or county of WestChester. They're DIFFERENT cities all together. When I turn ON var cityGPS in UniAW it produces the city name of West Chester. That's correct. In ALL widgets that don't employ the cityGPS variable - it returns Lyndell (wrong city) when I'm in West Chester. The 'neighborhood' (Township) of West Chester is West Goshen and the county is Chester - none of them are Lyndell. myLocation is pulling the correct GPS coordinates for West Chester - so that's not an issue here.

The main widget I'm working to get to report the city correctly (as UniAW does) is Drifter's 8.1 Independent Elements City + Touch Coordinates iWidget. It has a variable for Neighborhood but not for cityGPS.

Would you like me to send you a link to Drifter's City iWidget?

And why didn't the developers of myLocation put a 'date stamp' in the entries of the myLocationPath.txt.. UGGH!! Only times of the day -- you have to count days backward maually... *sigh*

    Thanks!

I'll give it a go on Tuesday

I have one already but it's 160x175. Will only take some small tweaks though, but I am off to bed now and have a busy day tomorrow.

Frelop, or any other coder here, is there a way to move the SB up like 20pts like the UniAw SB? I'm trying to raise it up to the status bar

If you want the whole thing to move just go to the CSS and at top where it says #body put in -20 or so in top and respring may have to adjust the number to how much you want it to go

No dice, the body moved up but the overlays stayed in place and threw everything off center. Any advice

    Hi all,

In the end I went with 12 minute timedwalls, I have added and changed many many walls, I hope you guys like them, there are still a few iffy ones but only for in the middle of the night (2am - 4am ish), maybe I change them later, not so important as you hardly ever see them.
I think I’m quite happy with more than 80% of them now. I did try 10 minute walls but I’m sorry, I like them slow.

I let you guys test it for a little while and I can at last start making all the different versions. I will call it 6.4 just to save confusion (thanks for the suggestion “V”).

Sorry about the transition between the walls, it’s very bad as you see the old image jump back to the start position right before the new one fades in, Iv’e had no time to look at anything, just working on images every free minute I get.

This is PerPageHTML version (I don't know why but it's just the version I always work on first) but I think you guys know the drill by now.

    Here’s the link.

Scrolling one way.. just like last version. Dacal updated code on last beta to allow for scrolling both ways - but the timing is set so that it takes 12 minutes to see whole wall moving left to right before the next wall starts. This is how Ian wants it.

But if you wish to see movement both ways you just set the wall speed faster than it is now in the CSS and it will scroll both ways.
