Sorry for the noob question, I have just started learning how to program for iPhone and need to come out with this application for my project. It is an application which allows wireless syncing of iPhone with a Mac book. But after reading through the security overview of iPhone, i realise sandboxing is being use to restrict accessing of files outside of the application own directory (correct me if i'm wrong).

Without jailbreaking the phone but by just using the SDK, can i write a program to access the database file in the iPhone directory.

    e.g. /var/root/Library/AddressBook/AddressBook.sqlitedb

Is there a way to get around this without jailbreaking the phone? Or is it ok for my application to access the file.

I haven't register for the development certificate yet and therefore unable to test out the application.

Thanks in advance... your help is fully appreciated.
