    Adobe is releasing Flash CS5 in the near future which will allow exporting to .app

    Yes you can but the setup is not very simple.

    There is a way actually, through the iPhone 2.0 Toolchain on Cydia.

    This can be done by the following steps, but not quite sure about it.
    * jailbreak the iPhone
    * install Ruby + Sinatra on the iPhone
    * write the app using Sinatra, hitting a database (SQLite?) on the iPhone.

    Yep. This guy wants to write apps, but didn't even go so far as to find out if he needed a PC or a Mac. Sounds like a self-starter to me. He'll go far!
