hey guys, I'm still running OS 3.0 and have an important question before I update:

If I do this upgrade, will I still be able to native tethering like I can on 3.0? I had read that Apple had disabled native tethering in OS updates after 3.0, so I've refused to update (I don't want to lose the apple tethering, which is much more stable than apps like PdaNet). It's just too much of a blessing to lose because Apple/AT&T decided they didn't want it.

If anyone can give me insight with regards to native iPhone tethering with this update, I'd greatly appreciate it.
    anyone?

Well, i was wondering the same thing too this morning. I remember someone telling me we have to switch out the commcenter with a hack one to be able to use the tethering in 3.1.2. This works pretty well as i am now jailbroken/unlocked with mms and tethering enabled with the latest fw. It took me about 30 minutes to figure things out but it was worth it since i was stuck on 3.1.2.

Hopefully someone finds an easier way to do this, because the average user would have a difficult time using openssh.

So I can go upgrade my 2G to a new 3GS and jailbreak it with no problem with this program?
    Yes...
    NO!!!! NO NO NO.

The new iPhone 3GS models have an updated bootloader which currently is only susceptible to a TETHERED jailbreak, meaning anytime you have to restart the phone or your battery dies, you will need to be plugged into a computer. Don't answer questions if you don't know what you're talking about.

NO NO NO!!! *smacks head against desk*

We couldn't have waited a LITTLE longer? Just maybe 1 or 2 more software updates? Now they'll have this patched up MONTHS before 4.0...

^^GeoHot doesn't work like that, it's the Dev Team that waits.
It's GeoHot so I'm sure he'll hack the next firmware too, right(?)

Is better to install Geo's unlock via Repo (Future updates?) or Installer?

Anyway, I try experimented with the unlock after upgraded blackra1n on iphone and unlocked it using Sn0w. When I restored the firmware to factory and inserted TMobile sim its still unlocked!
