    Its amusing to me that every first batch of products like iphone have defects.

    Oh well , these devices are made by man who aren't perfect themselves :S

    hmmm. so on your iphone 4 have you tried turning off your wifi and blutooth like others have suggested and does this fix the problem?
    I don't have an iPhone 4, it ships to my house tomorrow. I'll post my results them but my 3GS is doing the same exact thing. Maybe it's an issue with iOS 4?

    Yea well im running 4.0 on both my 3GS and my 3G and i have zero issues with reception no matter how i hold it. So explain that smartass

    Ok i covered the top half of the phone with one hand and I don't lose bars infact it goes up lol.

    If I cover the bottom half of the phone with one hand it dropped all the way to searching WTF.

    I can't believe some people are so blinded by Apple that they accept the problem saying the bumper will "fix" this. WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU! I am terribly pissed that the problem is with all iPhone 4. When you buy a 600$ phone it should work as expected! Even 20$ phones have better reception. Damn you apple couldn't you test it better??? I mean dammit it's a phone and it cannot even make calls properly. I'm so disappointed.

    I have the same issue on iphone 3g with IOS4.
    from 5 to 1 bar when i'm hold it...
    So, for me it looks like a software bug.
