Well, you're antenna isn't on the outside of your phone like it is on the 4 now is it champ?
Obviously it's not on the outside as it is on the 4th gen, so the fact that the problem is occurring on 3GS as well points further to a software problem IMO.

Just because 3GS model phones are 'only' dropping 2 or 3 bars does not mean we should trivialize the issue for non 4th gen iPhone owners who were only affected with signal loss on contact after upgrading to ios4..

Edit: I'm honestly surprised some fanboy hasn't tried explaining to me how this Is a feature and not a flaw

So apple messes up and we gotta pay extra for rhe bumper to keep reception. They should give that to us free to make up for it!!

This isn't a bug. Apple made a multi-touch antenna. When you touch it with more than 1 finger the bars drop, so you know your holding the phone. I hope it is software for Apples sake.

As long as I can receive and make calls , I don't care how many bars it has

Problem with mine is if I am in coverage of 3 bars or less, it drops to no bars and won't let me make calls.

Have mine in hand. No bar dropping issues. I held it every which way you can think. All good. THOUGH I do have the screen discolor at the bottom. Result of faster production? Who knows. As long as it get fixed.

Since it doesn't appear to happen to everyone, I'm wondering if its a manufacturing issue.
If there is a non conductive film that's not placed just right, could affect something as sensitive as an antenna.
That this wasn't caught in development could also point to manufacture.
Get ready for lots of repairs, Apple!!

Ok guys this is not just an iPhone issue... I have in my hands right now a Blakcberry Bold 9700 and when I hold it on my left hand with the palm on the bottom left hand corner the signal goes to 1 or 2 bars...I let go and immediately shoots up to full signal.

Now what i dont know is how no one ever noticed this before, seems to happen to most phones. People are just obesessed with their iphone and rubbing it all the time I guess

I can confirm I'm having the same issues as the guy in the video pointed out. If I hold my phone period (anyway in my hand with my fingers touching the stainless, my bars drop to none!

However my screen does not seem to have the yellow issues that others were reporting...thank God for that! But how is Apple going to address this reception issue? This is big sh*t!

I meant to ask...are people also having this issue outside? I haven't testing it outside yet but I will shortly. If you have please reply here and let us know!

    Thanks
