Wow I haven't kept up to date since 3.0.1....I tried to catch up, but just want to make sure I got everything before I go ahead.

Since I can't have Cydia store my SHSH cause apple doesn't sign for my firmware anymore. (only able to get my ECID but no SHSH)
Seems like I meet all the other requirements:
3GS non MC model number, old bootrom 359.3, and never used spirit.

My question is, if I jailbreak to IOS4, would I be able to jailbreak future updates without SHSH from older firmwares?

    anyone?? help pls.

    !!!3Gs OLD BOOTROM, 3.1.3 JB with SPIRIT->SOLUTION TO UPGRADE iOS4.0 with JB Sn0wbreeze 1.6.1!!!

Hi guys, i red the whole thread, and I found a step by step tutorial "how to uprgade to 4.0 who 3.1.3 spirit JB 3Gs old bootrom have".

But I have actually one problem on the start already

I know I need to downgrade my FW to 3.1.2 (becouse I need the older baseband for the new Custom FW Snowbreeze)

When I try to SHIFT+Restore to the original/general 3.1.2 fw(iPhone2,1_3.1.2_7D11_Restore.ipsw), the iTunes wrote an error message:
"The iPhone could not be restored. This device isn't eligible for the requested build"

It seems that the iTunes check from the Apple server and not from saurik's server.

I wrote the line in the host file already some months ago, in my cydia I can read on the top in green colour: "The device has SHSHs on file for iPhone OS: 3.1.3" but before I upgraded to 3.1.3 in the Cydia was: "The device has SHSHs on file for iPhone OS: 3.1.2". So I think I saved correctly my shshs to saurik

Please mr proffesionals helf me to solve this problem! MrDmias i see you know everything, say me what do I wrong. It seems like I dont put the "74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com" line in my hosts file, but I did.

    I waiting your opinion

    thanks
Do you have your blobs saved in cydia?

    i'm getting this error too.

Best method I can suggest for you is like this:
First you update to STOCK Standard 4.0 from itunes.
Then, use LATEST Redsn0w 0.9.5 to JB it!

It doesn't if you have mc with the old bootrom and I have mc with the new bootrom.

Serial has nothing to do with it either the 4th and 5th digit of mine are 17 and I have the new bootrom.

If you've got the new bootrom then, currently you've got no chance to have the 4.0 JBed.
we'll keep waiting for a new tool.

Put your iPhone into DFU mode. (Below the method how to put your iPhone into DFU in case you don’t know)

Connect your phone to your desktop and open iTunes.
Press and Hold the HOME button and Sleep/Wake button.
After 10 seconds, release the Sleep/Wake button and continue holding the Home button until iTunes pops up saying that your iPhone is in Recovery mode.
But at the moment, your iPhone should be in black screen.
Then go to Control Panel –> System –> Hardware – >Device Manager

Look for “Apple Mobile Device USD Driver” inside of “Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller”

Right click “Properties”, inside “Detail” tab, scroll down the dropdown list select “Device Instance Path”. You should able to find the bootrom version from the long string. It looks something like iBoot-359.x.

Anyone wondering what bootrom they have use f0recast! If it says "untethered: yes" or "tethered: no" you can go up to 4.0!
