You update to 4.1 with the help of tiny umbrella to preserve your baseband. Then you would jailbreak with greenpoison and use ultrasn0w to unlock.

Please understand what I was saying. I did write another post clarifying it just after this one. I am not saying this jailbreak is confusing. It is not, it is clear what this will work on and what it wont. This jailbreak will however at some point lead to apple releasing these devices with a updated bootrom closing the Shatter exploit, just like they did with new bootrom 3GS. All I was saying is that with all these bootroms that are going to be flying around it will be harder to keep track of in the future.
Yes but that would be with iPhone 5 I would assume?

Poseidon: This will only work on the iPhone 4, iPad and iPod Touch 4G. It does /not/ support any older devices as they do not contain the A4 chip that contains the exploit.

Secondly this is not an unlock and will not help those that have updated to 4.0.2 or 4.1.
So there isn't coming a iPod 2G JB on sunday? I hope it will come then...

Apple patched the first bootrom exploit in the middle of 3GS production. What makes you think they will wait for iPhone 5 to patch this one. I am not saying they wont wait that long, I hope they will, but it is a good chance at some point before then it will be patched.

You are wrong: The Firmware Umbrella
This is for iPhone 4 only though

You are right about if you updated to stock 4.1 and aleady have the updated baseband though.

Thanks to chronicdev for working so hard on this. I had a jailbroken 3G before someone broke it and bought me a 4.0.2 iPhone 4. I'm not complaining about the new phone, but it will be nice to have all the stuff I actually cared about back. BTW, how do I move all my purchased app licenses to my new phone (ie: MyWi 4) since rock doesn't exist anymore? Thanks chronicdev and whoever helps me with moving my licenses.

Im acting as if they could have devoted time to looking for other exploits aswell rather then devoting 100% of there time to this.

whats smarter jailbreaking a certain percentage of devices or ALL devices
There will br exploits for tje 3gs soon enough.

But honestly dude, finding an exploit isnt easy. And since they found one why not work on it? And how the fukk do u know theyre not working on one right now? Be patient

It means you will not have to have your iDevice plugged into your computer when you reboot it. If it was tethered, Your iDevice would be required to be plugged into your computer to reboot.

Will it jailbreak it for life or just until you update it?

The description says it will not help those on 4.1. But I read that the jailbreak is for 4.1. What am I missing?
