OR you can simply NOT update your phone unless there's a jailbreak for it. I've been jailbreaking for years and there has never been a time when I've needed to downgrade anything.

This seems like a nice tool if one is prone to F*ing things up.
True. However there are several that update to beta test new fm. Or have to do a restore because the phone crapped out. But aside from that you are correct. Most update just because and then complain and expect the devs to hurry for them.

I have the iPhone 4 and I was getting tired of waiting for the new Pwnage Tool to be released so I could save my baseband so I updated to 4.1 using TinyUmbrella and it worked perfectly! I'm now unlocked with T-Mobile on 4.1 and I couldn't be happier! Thanks!

This is a staple program for jailbreaking for me. FYI You can use it to kick your iPhone out of recovery also. I've had TinyUmbrella for months now and have a few SHSH files backed up for all my idevices. I really appreciate the effort by developers to put these type of programs out.

Wait so 4.1.9 Tinyumbrella will save your baseband version??? I'm looking at it right now. And it says "Installed Baseband Version: 02.10.04-ICE_2_8" so that means if I ever restore back to 4.1 again it will also put that baseband in as well? Is that what I am understanding???

No no no! What it will do, IS IF you're running 4.0.2 or less and want to upgrade your iPHONE 4 (only iphone 4) to 4.1, then it won't upgrade your baseband. What it won't do, is downgrade your baseband. There is no known way to downgrade baseband.

Yeah, unfortunately (for now) you are stuck at bb 2.10.04. However, from what I've read, there is an unlock in the works that will be released after iOS 4.2 drops next month. When 4.2 comes out you will be able to upgrade to it (and any successive version) using TinyUmbrella and keep your baseband at 2.10.04. Very handy for unlockers and even normal users that just want to keep the resale value as high as possible.

guys is there away to backup my cydia stuff? i tried aptbackup and pkgbackup but both didn't work on my iphone 4 ios4.1
I found a program (from Russia I think) called "Cyder" that will do exactly that. Google for it.

Still not getting what this tool is used for.

This allows you to save the shsh blobs locally. Comes in handy when Cydia/Saurik's server gets overloaded.

Also, this app allows you to preserve your iPhone 4 baseband when updating.
