Yeah I will be switching to droid phones too if this ever happens. The Sim card is a life saver for saving contacts onto, makes the whole contact transferring process so easy. This is just Jobs trying to be Hitler with his dictatorship.
    What?

you should use an exchange server to back up your contacts, like google.

you can only save the name and number onto sim card, but on google's exchange server i save their picture, secondary numbers, email address, facebook profile, etc...

it's more convenient and there's no risk of loosing everything if you loose your phone with the sim card.

I'm good with this actually. I had to replace my 3G because it stopped recognizing the sim. It was under warranty, but it's a MAJOR pain in the *** to route to an Apple store when you're away from home. Luckily I was only 200 miles from the nearest one when my phone did this.

Nothing like a 400 mile round trip waste of time, when you're working and have no way to let anybody know what's going on. Just try finding a pay-phone now-days! I had to borrow a random person's Moto Crpr, ugh!

Oh! And you can't get warranty replacements/work at AT&T stores, you HAVE to go to an APPLE store or send it in.

With it being built in, that problem will not happen. Besides, someone will crack the code and unlock it anyway.
It's not where you've been, or where you're going..
    It's where you are.
Reflect on the past, plan for the future, mod for today.

Stupid concept and wont work on International provider. Because if that happen nobody will use iPhone for their mobile device especially for those who travel alot.

Also I dont think the international provider will allow this to happen cause if this happen then their prepaid card customer will be perish forever...

I agree with those that think that is an outrages idea. Obviously this defeats the purpose of a "world phone" that should theoretically allow easy access to local sim cards(prepaid or not) from around the world to be readily applied when travelling. Already, the micro sim causes problems in some parts of the world since they are not readily available, luckily the "sim cutter" has bridged that gap.
If Apple was to take on this angle they are limiting the iphone and it will no longer be a world phone and hence lose out on their customers who are international travellers.

I highly doubt this will come to fruition. There are just too many obstacles in regards to travel. Possible? Sure. Plausible? Absolutely not.

Why? Well, in my area you can have a legit AT&T account and pay out the nose for "3G", it won't do you any good though, since there is no 3G coverage anywhere near me. And the best part is, AT&T edge around here runs around 6 - 9 Kbps!!!!!

So why would anyone have AT&T on a non "3G" carrier?

Because with my local carrier I pay half of what AT&T costs for a comparable package, and my edge data speeds are consistently in the 200kbps range!!!

This is why I switched from the iPhone to the EVO. This phone is so much better and its on a 4G network. Yeah you pay that additional 10$ but its unlimited. Unlike ATT and T-Mobiles new 5gb cap. Not trying to troll around but I want more idevice users to see the beauty of android.

I know SIM cloning or ghosting is illegal, I think putting a programable SIM in an iPhone may cause more issues than fix once the security protecting that is compromised
