Well why don't you try prove that the Catholic Church is bankrupt so? Hmmm?
My church is in the hole over 2,000,000 dollars last I checked. An organization meant for money-making should be optimized FOR money-making. Using wine instead of grape juice isn't exactly cost-effective. And you don't see churches cutting costs by selling the adornments or using juice either. I know if I were a business I sure would! Why are you guys bent on saying it's for money-making anyway? I don't say that Baptists are meant for some ulterior motive, I just don't believe in everything they teach. And one guy trying to make money off of an app doesn't prove much.

Useless debate, if things keep going the way they are going, we will all be bankrupt LOL. (according to Glen Beck LOL)

The money doesnt go to the Church. The church didnt write it. Its an app developed by www.littleiapps.com

Its no difference if I write a book, an App or make a movie about the Catholic Church, faith etc. and a Bishop or the USCCB found that what I had created supports the teachings of the church. End of story. The Catholic Church isnt getting a dime for this. It is a developer.

    Hope that helps.

And no I am not the developer, I can barely write basic code on a Commodore 64 LOL

Then why are all the churches millions of dollars in debt? Sorry but your theory doesn't fit reality. And why do they use wine? Why don't they just go cheap and use grape juice? Why are the cathedrals adorned? Why do the priests have robes in many different colors for different parts of the year? Why? Doesn't sound like it's to save or make money to me.
My Church isn't in debt at all, and we've got a pretty decent population

Ok so not ALL of them are in debt. But I still say my last post squashes this argument. Churches that are in debt aren't making or saving money in ways obvious to businessmen.

So your entire idea that the Catholic Church is bankrupt is based on your local Church being in debt. That's like saying Apple is bankrupt because one Apple Store is making a loss.

Churches might work differently over there in the U.S. but in Ireland they are not "money-making organisations", here your local Church relies completely on community donations.

You're right. But please explain why churches that are in debt aren't taking obvious measures to save/make money.

...and why would someone need or believe they need an app to confess?

God is always listening and waiting for us to give Him some time. You can ask for forgiveness or give thanks or whatever else you wanna share!

I don't know I never defended the app.

Actually, the app isn't for confessing if you read the article or even looked at the picture, it's for examining yourself to see where you have sinned. It actually sounds pretty useful.

I can't speak for every church, but a my local churches have put out pleas for extra donations especially for essential renovations are needed like repairing a roof or windows, it has forgone turning on the heating system only in the coldest weeks or months, replaced live flowers with artificial flowers. This is done in the four churches of my parish managed by two priests.

Churches that are in serious debt obviously have been badly managed or have suffered a significant drop in attendance, which many have. Again, I can only speak for Irish Churches, majority of the weekly offerings go to the upkeep of the Church buildings and parochial house(s), then one weekend at Easter and one at Christmas goes to the priest themselves, to pay for food, petrol and whatever other expenses for the year, so they only get two pay-days a year. I really don't know what your Church spends its money on to be 2million in debt.

Also, many would see replacing sacramental wine with grape juice as blasphemous, would you replace the eucharist with doritos too? It's probably the cheapest cost a church has.

2$ million in debt, to whom is this debt owed? If they are in that kind of debt there presence would cease to exists in your community. Catholic Churches survive off donations from their congregation and organizational charities, along with living cost allowance paid by the Vatican if needed. I don't see how they could be in this kind of debt, unless they had to pay in a law suite, like many other catholic dioceses have had to in the past years....
