What is the reason that an iDevice needs to phone home every time you update or restore?
Because Apple is evil and they want to control your life.
    I don't drink kool-Aid, I don't join cults.
This is why I break out in cold sweat going to Apple retail store.

And yet another reason to stay away from iTunes!
TOTALLY agree. I look forward to the day that Semaphore finishes the program to restore without iTunes.

iTunes is the most unfriendly, terribly engineered piece of caca poopoo

Sorry, but I find Windows the "most unfriendly, terribly engineered piece of caca poopoo"

Oh, and if you run iTunes on a Mac, it actually works fairly well. Sort of the opposite of running Office on a Mac.

LOL. I get it. There is no question in my mind that the Mac OS/iOS is superior no matter what. Hats off to you for being a Machead. I have just been PC rockin for so long Im in fear of learning a new code. LOL.

    Well said. : )

Nah- my real point was that Mac stuff on Windows runs about as well as Windows stuff runs on a Mac. I have no problems with iTunes, but it seems that lots of people running it on Windows do. So....

Oh, and Mac OS is just Linux for the most part (well, at the start it was). Not so difficult to work with.

Yeah, and Titanic won Best Picture Oscar and made a lot of money. How does the majority liking something automatically make it "better?"

"Stevie boy" cannot tell we are jailbroken over iTunes.

The story is HIS phone is both unlocked and jailbroken.

Since no one has ever had an issue with Apple knocking on the door demanding a clean restore of a jb phone, it seems moot.

Oh, and jb'ing an iPhone is legal. Not much they could do about it even if they wanted too.

    Paranoia is... well, paranoia.

Please, Please Please, for the love of everything iOS, iDevice etc. PLEASE learn to use the word "bricked" in the correct context. Not being able to use it due to the activation servers being down is hardly bricking a device. In the iphone 2g days. If you didnt know what you were doing when jailbreaking and unlocking a device , You could BRICK a device. As in render it useless no matter what you did, restore, update it was in a permanent state of brick. A paper weight is what it has become. So next time you use the word BRICKED while talking about an idevice please make sure you are using it correctly
