I heard at one point T-Mobile had a hotline dedicated to helping people mod cough*jailbreak*cough there iPhones to get them on T-mobile
This would not surprise me in the least. I know they at least had a white paper that most of the dealers would give you a copy of that would help you do this.

iPhone, 3g, 3gs, 4, and if it's not released for t-mobile, the 5 (or 4s) as well. I have mine as well as my kids on iPhones with t-mobile. I've also unlocked dozens for my friends, and for others that wanted to use the iPhone on t-mobile. Sure, the internet speed sucks, but it does work if you really need it. And the cellular reception for t-mobile in my area is way better than at&t.

T-Mobile or "Everything Everywhere" (never understood why they went with that name, really)?

Sprint still offers unmetered and unthrottled data on their network in the US if I remember correctly. T-Mobile USA's "unlimited" plans are not even close to unlimited in the traditional sense of the word--you'll get throttled down to around 56 Kbps if you break 2 GiB on any one SIM in a month. You can't even give away 56K speeds in the vast majority of the US anymore (for comparison, EDGE maxes out at 473 Kbps, and EDGE Evolution 2 tops out at almost 1900 Kbps download).

EDIT: Furthermore, there's no way T-Mo won't get swallowed up by AT&T, and even if they don't, there's no way that consumer-harming bandwidth caps and traffic shaping won't continue to play havoc on the American marketplace.
Believe it or not when my uncle's data was slowed he had a word with a T-Mobile rep and his speed went back to the way it should have been.
that was officially the scariest thing you have ever said str4y.

Any time I have needed to contact TMo for customer service, they have been outstanding; that's why I continue to stay with them and won't defect to AT&T. As the OP mentioned, we don't get 3G speed with an unlocked iPhone right now but hopefully someday. I hope AT&T doesn't ruin their customer service once they acquire them.

What's the point? ATT bought T-Mobile. Soon T-Mobile will be obsolete.
Um. Longggggggg way before the deal is complete. Can you say FCC ??

    Your information is incorrect.

If AT&T takes over the customer service I am stopping my contract.
Ditto. I am out. To Cricket and a flashed iPh

How in the world do they know how many iPhones are on TMobile? The day I called for help with another phone they had a fit because they could not tell what type of phone I have. Also when you go into my account on T-Mobile where it shows phone type it says phone type unknown. Just wondering where they get this number from.

T-mobile for the win! Except for the fact that we don't get 3g... but at least it costs less.

I was also one of the T-Moile iPhone users, but recently jumped ship and joined the AT&T gang with an Iphone4. I was using a 2G iPhone and was tired of running on Edge and slow performance of the older iPhone. So far so good.

T-Mobile edge speed is good enough for my iPhone, mainly use wifi @ home & office. Only pay $5.99 for unlimited edge T-Zones.
