Three more small regional carriers will add the iPhone to their networks May 18th.

Bluegrass Cellular (Kentucky), Golden State Cellular (Central California), and Nex-Tech (Kansas) Wireless will offer the iPhone 4S to their customers at a $50 discount compared to their larger counterparts (16GB $149, 32GB $249, 64GB $349). The three carriers will also offer the iPhone 4 for $49 (that's three “fours” in a row...)

The latest batch of regional carriers are much smaller in coverage area and subscriber base than the six announced last month, with each carrier regarding in a single state instead of larger interstate regional providers. Also, each of the carriers operate using CDMA technology.

This news comes on the heels of news that T-Mobile’s network updates would allow them to support the iPhone someday, maybe. While the announcements are likely coincidental, the fact small regional carriers continue to add the iPhone to their list of supported phones has to be just a little bit embarrassing. It’s been five years since Apple released the iPhone, and T-Mobile customers (in the U.S.) still don’t have an officially supported Apple handset on their network.
