Some of you probably hate how the device rotates on you when you don’t want it to, for example when you’re laying on your side in bed and your iPhone’s orientation changes to fit gravity instead of your eyes. The rotation lock that iOS comes with allows this rotation feature to cease from working until you disable the lock. The rotation lock feature can be accessed from the multitasking App Switcher in the iPod controls section, but for some, that's still just an annoying hassle.

If you’re a fan of Ryan Petrich’s free Activator application, then you should download a new free Activator plugin called Orientation Activator by iOS developer Rickye. It’s a listener that waits and watches for the user to perform the selected Activator action for the plugin; when performed, the iOS device’s rotation lock will be enabled or disabled depending on its current state when you invoke the Activator action.

Simply put, just go into Activator’s preferences pane from the Settings application after you install the plugin, select an action, and assign it to your new Orientation Activator plugin. Now you can just invoke the action to enable and disable the rotation lock on your iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad.

It’s a really simple plugin that some people should find very helpful. To add the cherry on top, the plugin is absolutely free and you can snag it from the BigBoss repository today. The project is open source and its source code can be viewed on Github. If you don't have Activator installed already, it will be installed upon trying to install Orientation Activator. Give it a try and let us know how you like it.

Not a bad idea, just amusing that people are lazy enough to the point where they can't touch the home button twice lmao.

This is bloody marvellous. Works very well. Added it as triple tap home. Quick and easy.

I would definitely have this tweak if I was jailbroken!

I am using rotation lock through sbsettings, though this tweak seems "less energy consuming" ;-)

Is there anyway to enable locking your orientation in more then just portrait mode? I use to do it when I had sbrotator and made an activator feature for it so I could lock apps in sideways orientation or videos etc. but now I use Rotatingicons which is much better to me. However it doesn't allow me to lock in landscape orientation etc.

Haha found it "landscape rotation lock" is what I think it's calle and it does exactly what is was looking for haha

Love this. Double-tap statusbar right (ie on the icon) works a treat

This has nothing to do with laziness my friend. It's about convinience and saving time...

The SBSettings toggle works for me. On my iPad I just use the mute button.

I also use Rotation Lock and have since it first came out.
What I'm looking for as a way to remove the lock icon from the taskbar.
Thats why I'm here, by the picture it looks like this will remove the icon but it wont so its misleading.

Is there a tweak to remove the icon?
