For those of you that enjoyed great jailbreak tweaks in the past such as Aloud and SpeakEvents, TitleSpeak is a new free jailbreak tweak by iOS developer iHackerMe that allows your iOS device to speak banner notification titles out loud using Siri's voice.

TitleSpeak is intended to be a simple add-on to compliment the notification sound you have set for notifications; it won't silence the notification sound, which is a great feature of the tweak. It only speaks the title of the banner notification and not the content, meaning that everyone around you isn’t going to hear your personal business. Another benefit being that you will know right from your pocket what application is sending you the notification.

For applications like Apple’s Messages, where the title is the name of the person sending you the message, TitleSpeak will speak the person’s name. For third party applications like Twitter or Facebook, TitleSpeak will say, “Twitter” or, “Facebook” in order to let you know which application you are getting an alert from. By default, most of these applications play the Tri-tone alert noise when you get an alert from them, so this tweak will help you distinguish between these applications.

Those hard at seeing will enjoy the tweak too, as it allows more information to be transmitted by sound instead of forcing the person to read it. Albeit they will still have the read the actual message contained within the notification.

The tweak has no options to configure and TitleSpeak’s volume will depend fully on your ringer volume. TitleSpeak won’t do all of the amazing things that paid tweaks like Aloud and SpeakEvents can, although it’s a start for a free tweak. It's not bad for the creation of a 13-year old developer either. Check it out!

(Really, let's keep politics off these boards. They are for phone discussion. Everyone has a political opinion, and to paraphrase, while everyone has an "opinion," no one thinks THEIRS stinks. So let's leave the politics at the door and focus on important things, like when is the unlock coming- sigh, those were sooooo boring- or when is there going to be a jb for iOS 6 on an i5?)

I tend to agree, this is a place for technology related news and discussion. Politics really is off topic here when it comes down to it. Mr. Bouchard should have known what an image like that could end up leading to.

You couldn't chose Michael Jordan or Will Smith instead? Even easier to pronounce.

while i understand the lets keep politics out of things suggestion.. What i dont understand is why they would use that as an example of what the app does and not realize that is exactly what is going to happen. I am sure there were millions upon millions of other things to use in the ad/presentation. But they instead chose to a subject that is very polarizing.

I suppose he could have used a sports team (nope) or a movie or recording star (nope nope) or the name of a country (probably not) or, oh oh, I got it, a movie title- nope. And, while I like Michael Jordan, I don't like Will Smith. What if he printed Tony Blair, or Sarah Palin, or JFK, or Biko, or Malcolm X, or Bull Conner, or Strom Thurmond, or Martin Luther King, or Ted Williams, or Kenny Stabler, or Paris Hilton, or Jesus or Buddha or Yaweh or Satan in the balloon? Same thing happens.

How about people just keep their opinions to themselves, regardless of what is printed in a text balloon? Or in a story. Unless it relates to the facts at hand, it's not to the point, which is "phones." If people can just be (ooohhh, I'm gonna get in trouble for this one) mature when posting, things should be fine. No one cares about your (or my) political or religious or gender views. You want to talk about that, there are plenty of blogs out there where you can slag away to your heart's content about who is the spawn of the devil, who is a bad political leader, who is a degenerate, who was born where, whose skin color or religion does not suit your tastes, etc., etc.

Here, the worst we should have to deal with is if some troll thinks Apple is either the spawn of the devil or the messiah.

    Thank you.

I believe the balloon was supposed to be signify the audio notification part, so I would be worried if I suddenly started getting tweets or messages from dead people, unless this is supposed to signal the beginning the zombie apocalypse. Frankly this isn't exactly how I envisioned it going down, but oddly, it seems to fit in many ways.
