For the second time in so many weeks, two of Apple's most popular and signature services - iMessage and FaceTime - are faltering for some users.

Although some have speculated that Hurricane Sandy on the East Coast may have somehow contributed to the intermittent outages inconsistently reported around the U.S., Apple's most recent support status update didn't delve deeply into any specifics.

"We are investigating and will update the status as more information becomes available," Apple said.

Since Monday evening, a number of Internet providers, wireless carriers, and digital service providers have seen sub-par performances and occasional outages, all of which are being blamed on the inclement weather battering most of the eastern portion of the U.S. tonight.

For now, the outages related to iMessage and FaceTime don't appear to be widespread or long-lasting enough to prompt much concern, but MMi will keep you updated on the situation as more details emerge.
