Three years ago, Rovio launched Angry Birds for the first time. The game instantly became a hit in the App Store, and it remains a popular game to this very day. Rovio is celebrating by updating the original Angry Birds game to version 3.0, which includes new levels, a new bird, and support for the iPhone 5 and iPod touch 5G’s four-inch display.

The update includes 30 new levels in total – 15 of which are new "Bird-day party" levels, that include "Exlosively delicious cake," and the other 15 new levels will be Bad Piggies-themed and you will be "popping pigs." The new bird is the pink bird that was teased back in August, which as a "bubbly" ability.

With the support for the new four-inch retina display, the game feels widescreen with no more limiting black letterboxes at the right and left of the screen as you play the game, which feels much better. Angry Birds Space, Angry Birds Seasons, and Angry Birds Star Wars already had support for the four-inch display, so we wonder why Rovio didn’t update the original Angry Birds sooner.

Existing players can update the game for free from the Updates tab in the App Store. Alternatively, iPhone users can buy the game for 99 from this link, and iPad users can buy the game for $2.99 from this link.

    Happy Bird-Day Angry Birds!
