Atebits has released a fresh new update today for the popular Letterpress word game. The game is free, however you can pay 99˘ to unlock worthwhile in-app content. Letterpress works through Game Center and allows you to strategically play words to trap your opponent into scoring as little as possible in their attempt to do the same thing to you.

In the new version, 1.3, Letterpress now has a new high-contrast theme, pictured above, which uses a lime green and black color scheme on a white background. In addition, the application icon for Letterpress has been tweaked to make it look flatter and less beefy. It’s a very minute change, but any pair of good eyes can see the difference if seen side-by-side.

Also new, players can now tap on an empty space on the playing board to wiggle the letter that used to be in that spot. You will also be able to watch game replays in Apple’s Mobile Safari, or Google's free third-party Chrome browser depending on the browser that you personally prefer.

In addition, players can now shake to shuffle all of the letters on the board, show the number of words played on the words played screen, and players trying to play a word when it's not their turn will now receive a validation message telling them if the word will work or not, making planning much better when the other player is taking forever.

Existing users can grab the Letterpress update from the Updates tab in the App Store. Alternatively, you can tap on this link to download Letterpress for free.
