Rumor has it that Apple will be launching the new generation iPhone with a 4.8-inch screen which competes with Android smartphones that are similar in size. Due to these speculations, Steve Hemmerstoffer of Nowehereelse.fr and Martin Hajek delivered what they thought the 4-8 inch screened iPhone 6 may look like with a touch of their own creativity:

    • Due to a bigger screen, an additional column of apps could be added to the Home screen and instead of 4 apps on the dock there would be 5.
    • An ultra-thin/sleek design
    • Instead of iPhone’s current Home button, it would be replaced with a clickable display- which was inspired by the clickable trackpad currently on the MacBook.
    • Although with a bigger screen, it would be a 4.8 inch edge to edge display so that the size of the phone wouldn’t be increased proportionally
    • The casing on the back of the phone would have chamfered edges and anodized aluminum coating- inspired by the iPod touch 5G/iPad Mini

Based on recent speculation, it is probably unlikely Apple will release the bigger iPhone anytime soon and in 2013. The iPhone 5s which is the unofficial name of the next generation iPhone is expected to be no different than the current iPhone 5. The only differences are said to be better camera quality, a faster processor and other improved internal systems.

What are you looking for in the next generation iPhone?

I really like this "concept" that's a nice looking device IMHO. I also like the idea of the screen from edge to edge.

they better not ever make the device bigger so edge-to-edge is the way to go!

Is that one going to be the standard 16x9 like everything else or some stupid resolution like the iPhone 5?

The iPhone 5 is 16:9. Well it's one pixel out.

Many concepts for the 5 were edge to edge as well. And if the 6 isn't edge to edge, expect concepts for the 7 to be too.

Fun with imagination, boys and girls.

It's about time Apple get on board with a larger screen on the iPhone, screen real estate is a premium these days. Edge to edge display may be a problem for aftermarket cases, and then again, may be not.

100% disagree. Apple needs to do what they have been. The design of the 5 is great. These monster phones are fads and will fade away. I mean really, a 5.5 inch screen!?!?!? My Galaxy Nexus has too large a screen. The iPhone has it right.

Don't knock it 'til you try it. I used a 5.55" Galaxy Note 2 and was surprised just how much more usable it was for smartphone functions while still being a perfectly serviceable size as a phone. That said, I think the tablet-sized Galaxy Note 3 will be way too big, but that's because the Galaxy S IV will be taking its place in the 5.5" range.

Speaking of the Galaxy S series, the screen size we are talking about for the larger iPhone actually is more in line with the Galaxy S III, which isn't at all a "monster phone" as you describe. Even so, just because you like the iPhone 5 so much doesn't mean that the people who demand a larger phone will buy one, so Apple needs to address both market segments. I can't imagine going under 4.8" after using a Galaxy Note 2 and so Apple will simply have to make one to attract me back. One of the reasons they are making a cheaper iPhone is that people are often still in contract and unable to get one subsidized after their phone is broken, lost, or stolen, so Apple loses those sales by not having a phone priced for the unsubsidized market segment.

Apple hardware advancement is not the problem. They generally do a great job. iOS advancement on the other hand suuuuuuxs!! Still sporting that old windows 3.1 icon driven interface, and 6 years later there is still a clock bar on the lock screen? Really Apple? (All the while others move to usable active panels and glance info widgets, not to mention Samsung's purported "eye ball scrolling" for the pending GS IV). Steal, er, integrate more jailbreak tweaks if you have to ;^) just move iOS along already. And hey, the Roman Empire was mighty once. Sayin...
