Apple on Thursday rolled out a nice little update to its popular iOS device finding app known as "Find My Friends."

In addition to a modest change to the user interface for searching and establishing settings, users will now enjoy more accurate location-based alerts (requires iOS 6.1 or later).

In short, the app now enables users to define the distance from a location for receiving notifications - or "customizable geofencing" as its known. In the past, such notifications were not possible from this app. What's more, the redesign presents the notifications cleanly on just one page.

It goes without saying that the update is particularly exciting to parents or guardians wishing to make sure their kids safely maneuver between various destinations.

"Find my Friends" is a universal app for the iPhone, iPod touch, iPad, and iPad mini. If you don't already have it, you can download "Find My Friends" at no charge from the App Store now.

This update stopped mine from working. My daughter is still located somewhere she was 2 hours ago and she's right next to me and I never had the Notification work properly anyway.

It's good for parents tracking their kids or if u do make friends and get them to accept the fmf invitation u can creep them out! But then you're back to having no friends.
