For those sticky situations where you need a way to quickly translate a word, phrase, or even an entire Web site, there’s a jailbreak tweak for that. Dubbed FYAFastTranslate by iOS developer @uGuer, the tweak integrates with Activator to make it very simple to get a translation for something when you need it.

After setting an Activator action, such as double tapping on the Status Bar, you will get the pop-up menu shown above. The menu gives you the option to translate text, or translate an entire Web page. When you choose text, you will get a new pop-up that asks you to enter unfamiliar text that will be translated to English. When you put in the text and then tap on the translate button, Mobile Safari will launch with Google Translate loaded up showing the English translation of whatever you enter:

Alternatively, you can translate entire Web pages so that you can read them. All too often we are plagued with Web sites in some language we can’t understand, and FYAFastTranslate has a feature that can help you translate the page on the fly. Just launch the pop-up after having copied the link of the Web page you want to translate, and paste the link into the text field then tap Translate to see the results:

FYAFastTranslate doesn’t do a bad job of doing what it aims to do, and it’s completely free. The best part is easy access to translations no matter where you are because of the Activator tie-ins. The only real downside is the slightly lacking interface… it’s not very visually appealing, especially with the large Donate button smack at the top of the pop-up. But oh well...

If you want to give FYAFastTranslate a try, you will find it in Cydia's BigBoss repository right now absolutely free.
