With each passing day, we inch closer to the anticipated September 10th introduction of the iPhone 5S. Along the way, the tech blogosphere has been privy to a hearty helping of image leaks (some likely real, some likely not) that continue to fuel speculation about what the next-gen iPhone will look like (although I think we all know what to expect by now).

On Friday, a French blog - MacBoutic - published the above image, which we are told is a gold-colored iPhone 5S rear casing. It's another compelling example of how the new iPhone will be available in more than just black and white color options. Today's photographic gem is consistent with a report Thursday by KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo who addressed the forthcoming gold iPhone 5S.

In recent weeks, amidst evidence that the plastic iPhone 5C would come in the widest variety of color options, everyone forgot about the iPhone 5S and the color selection that may also be available on the new flagship device.

Although there's nothing about these shots to confirm other rumors (128GB of internal storage, fingerprint sensor, etc.) rabid iPhone loyalists will take each and every shred of evidence they can get ahead of the expected big reveal on September 10th.

That looks like a Chromate Conversion coating which practically every aluminum aircraft part is coated with to prevent corrosion and provides a good base for paint.

I don't ever see gold is part of Apple's Periodic Table. The only reason I can think of if it does exist is to lure in Asian buyers, because gold symbolize wealth, luck, and prosperity in Asian culture and China is one of the biggest mobile user market that Apple would love to be in partner with.

Im not feeling the color either. Thought the colors were "candy coated" bright and shiny. That looks light and dull.
