Apple Thursday launched an update to the Find My iPhone application for iOS, bringing the application to version 2.0.3. The update adds the iOS 7-style flat application icon that was originally introduced in the iCloud Beta Web site just last week, which received a flat interface makeover to make it look more like iOS 7.

Although many might want to jump the gun and download the update right now, we suggest waiting. Multiple reports Thursday afternoon tell us that the updated application will only let you sign in if you’re registered with an Apple Developer account. If you’re not, you may get the pop-up message below:

It’s unknown exactly why Apple would make a developer-only application readily available in the App Store for all users. With that being said, Apple may actually fix this problem in the near future to prevent regular users from not being able to use the application. The issue is not expected to be present when iOS 7 is launched to the public this Fall.

Apart from the obvious, the update's change log also tells us that the update includes bug fixes and stability improvements. This is an ironic claim, considering that the latest public version of Find My iPhone can't really be used by non-developers right now.

UPDATE: The issue with the application allowing only developers to log in appears to be fixed now. Go ahead and download!

If you're on iOS 7 Beta you're considered a developer as far as Apple is concerned. Since only developers should be running iOS 7, these are the users that can use the application.

    Interesting.

There appear to be a lot of mixed results.

Edit: Made some changes to the article.

The application now appears to be fully functioning for just about everybody, so it looks like it was a small mistake on Apple's end and has been fixed.

The app was not working in iOS 7 until this update was pushed out. It seems to be stable across the different iOS versions that support find my iPhone app.

slim.jim... Yeah it works fine...as long as you only use your one icloud account...I had created a second account just for the find my iPhone and put on all families phones as well as mine...that worked in iOS 6... iOS 7 even states that you can only use find my iPhone on the default icloud account in the account settings...they changed something... I can sign into each account fine...I sign into mine n see my phone, but I have to sign into the other one to see the rest... That was the whole reason I creates a second account so I could see all devices at once..guess I need to open another bug report..I'm guessing they did this on purpose...wonder why..
