On Thursday, Google launched Google Wallet, a new free application in the App Store.

With Google Wallet for iOS, you can easily send money to people with just an E-mail. It allows the user to store money electronically and manage it from an application on their phone. As you might expect, Google offers this application on their Android platform as well. The iOS version of the application doesn't offer NFC (near field communication) support like the Android version of the application does on multiple Android devices, but this is because of hardware limitations on the iPhone.

The iOS version of the application includes other features too, like the ability to store your credit and debit cards, as well as your loyalty programs. This way you don’t have to carry all of your individual cards in your wallet.

As security would be a concern for many, Google Wallet has you covered. You can set a PIN number to ensure that you’re the only one that can get into the application, and it comes with 24/7 security monitoring, as well as fraud protection to prevent unwanted use of information. You can disable your Google Wallet at any time from the Web if you think your phone has been compromised.

If you want to give Google Wallet a try, it's available for free in the App Store right now for iOS devices running iOS 6.0 and later. You can grab it from this link.

This + Google's stance that it's customers shouldn't expect any privacy = a bad idea!

Send money with just an email? That doesn't sound very secure.
