On Thursday, The Weather Channel released a significant update for its iOS application bringing it up to version 6.0.0.

One of the most notable changes users will see right off the bat is the new redesign of the application for the aesthetics of iOS 7, which comes complete with a new application icon and improvements to the user interface for iOS 7, including a taller navigation bar, use of iOS 7-style blurring, a flatter user interface overall, and much more.

On the other hand, they also improved the application's functionality. Among the improvements is Social Weather, which now allows you to help The Weather Channel improve weather accuracy in your area by sharing your weather conditions with them. In addition, the radar maps are now much snappier and more fluent to use. User navigation in the application also sees improvements you can swipe left or right to see your saved locations, and you can swipe up or down to see more detailed weather information.

Existing users of The Weather Channel will find the update under the Updates tab in the App Store application. Alternatively, you can download the latest version of The Weather Channel for free from this App Store link.

And it only applies to the free version, not the paid. Again. They pulled this with the previous redesign too. I'm glad that I made the purchase when it was on a mega-sale.

Regardless, I don't really use the app anymore anyway. Dark Sky FTW.
