Many of you may recall Stride, a tweak released for iOS 5/iOS 6 by iOS developer Adam Bell that allowed you to draw a pattern of some sort to unlock your iOS device rather than having to punch in a passcode PIN number or type in a passcode password.

Bell has just released Stride 2, which has been re-coded from scratch with iOS 7 in mind. Stride 2 takes many design cues from iOS 7, but still works the way you would expect it to. More importantly, it keeps your device secure by allowing you to customize a drawn pattern that only you are going to know.

Once you install the tweak and configure the pattern you want to use to unlock your device, you will get the interface shown above when you try to unlock your Lock Screen. It will ask you to draw the pattern than you set, and once you do, you will be brought to your Home Screen after a neat animation.

To configure the tweak, you can head over to the Settings application and open the Stride preferences pane:

From here, you will be able to toggle the tweak on or off on demand, enable or disable a green highlight when you draw your pattern on the Lock Screen, and configure the pattern that you want to draw in order to unlock your iOS device.

When you go into the change password option, you will get the interface below where you will want to tap on the record button at the bottom of the interface, enter your drawn pattern three times, and then tap on the Save button to make sure your drawn pattern is saved:

When you go into the "Options" button from this interface, you will be given the ability to choose a sensitivity level for letting the tweak know how strict to be when judging your input. You can choose from Low, Medium, High, and Very High:

It's worth noting that in order to use Stride 2, you must have a passcode enabled.

For even more examples of the tweak, you can watch the developer's demonstration video of Stride 2 via the video link below:

Stride 2 is definitely an awesome way to unlock your iOS 7 device. Also important, the tweak is fully compatible with all iOS 7 iPhones, iPod touches, and even iPads. If you would like to give Stride 2 a try and start unlocking your iOS 7 device in style, then you can grab it right now from Cydia's BigBoss repository for just $2.99.

No discount for users who had previously purchased Stride for OS5?
That kind of dampens any enthusiasm to update to Stride 2.

Just a note, it doesn't seem to play nicely with the recently-released Convergance jailbreak tweak.

Wait, why would this tweak require a passcode to be set?

It's just the way it's designed to work. You can't use it without one.

The update to stride version 2.019 that says it works with Convergance does not work. The stride tweak is not saving the pattern and the only thing that shows up when unlocking by swiping on the Convergance button is the passcode mechanism. The stride pad isn't showing up at all.
