If you've ever wished that when people sent you pictures or videos in large numbers that they'd automatically save to your Camera Roll so you didn't have to save them one-by-one, then it's your lucky day.

iOS developer sharedRoutine has just released a new jailbreak tweak dubbed MSGAutoSave in Cydia that will make it so that any incoming photographs or videos that you receive via SMS or iMessage will automatically get saved to your Camera Roll.

As the files are saved to your Camera Roll, you will get a confirmation message saying that the tweak successfully saved the image to your Camera Roll. You'll have to tap on the "Okay" button to dismiss the message.

MSGAutoSave adds a preferences pane to the Settings application where you can configure a few options for the tweak:

From here, you'll be able to enable or disable the tweak on demand, enable or disable a confirm alert before photos and videos are saved to your Camera Roll, choose an image re-size percentage before they're saved to your Camera Roll, and choose a video re-size before they're saved to your Camera Roll. The re-sizing helps ensure that you don't fill up all your storage will top-quality media while they're being sent to you.

For photos, you can choose to re-size them from anywhere to 5%-100% in 5% increments. For videos, you can choose to re-size them in any of the following sizes:

    • 640x480
    • 960x540
    • 1280x720
    • 1920x1080
    • Actual size

The tweak can come in handy when you're getting a lot of photos from someone, such as from a special event you just went to where someone else was taking all the photographs and videos. Instead of having to manually save all of them, the tweak will just save them all for you.

On the other hand, since the tweak doesn't really care who is sending you photos or videos, it can also inadvertently save photos and videos from other people as well that you don't necessarily want, so it works best when you make sure you know someone is going to be sending you a large amount of photos and you only enable the tweak when you know it's going to happen.

You can watch the developer's demonstration video of MSGAutoSave in the video below:

Trying it out now! Works like a charm!

I wish it would integrate with PhotoAlbums+ and add the pics into a designated folder though. Still, it's VERY convenient! Totally worth $0.99!!!
