Your iOS 7 Lock Screen will show music controls whenever you have music playing in the background, and will show you the album artwork and song information as well. Unfortunately, it's not the most beautiful thing you may have ever seen in your life.

A new jailbreak tweak called Helius by iOS developer Phillip Tennen is now available in Cydia that will re-design how the Lock Screen looks when you have media playing in the background, as shown above.

It's quite a nice new appearance, as you can see from the screenshots. The tweak takes all of the information that you need to know, as well as all of the controls, and puts it all in one centralized hub on the Lock Screen. Not only that, the tweak does a nice job of decorating the Lock Screen by setting the wallpaper as a heavily blurred version of the album artwork and takes some of the focus away from the date and time by shrinking the size.

Helius adds a preferences pane to the Settings application where you can configure a few of the tweak's options to your liking:

From here, you can enable or disable the tweak on demand, enable or disable blurring the Lock Screen background, enable or disable iPhone 5s compatibility, and enable or disable a crossfade animation when changing songs you can also configure the crossfade animation duration.

For what it is, Helius is a neat aesthetic change to the iOS 7 media controls on the Lock Screen. Unfortunately, it only supports the stock Music application at this time support for third party music applications will come in the future. It is currently available in Cydia's BigBoss repository right now for just 99. The tweak will not run on an iPad, and requires iOS 7 to be installed.

A major downside is that if you use any other music player like Spotify or Google Music then you just get a blank lockscreen without any controls at all
