If that iOS Home Screen is just getting old for you and you want something completely different, then check out a new free jailbreak tweak called PurpleBoard by iOS developer Jonathan Yazinski.

Whatever you knew about the iOS Home Screen, you can just completely forget about after installing PurpleBoard. This is a landscape orientation-based, three-dimensional Home Screen replacement for iOS 6 and iOS 7 and the learning curve will be pretty large. It's also worth noting that it only works on 32-bit iPhones and iPod touches.

The new PurpleBoard Home Screen experience gives you widgets for weather, calendar, and system information, as well as a really interesting application dock with its own organization methods; PurpleBoard organizes your applications based on genre so you can find them easier.

At the bottom left of the display you will find brightness and volume sliders, as well as a button for accessing the PurpleBoard settings. Your battery percentage is also displayed down there. The date and time is displayed at the top left of the display.

You can rotate through the icons on the dock at the right side of the display with your finger. There are two independent rows of applications in the PurpleBoard dock. You can edit dock items from the PurpleBoard settings as shown below:

In our opinion, we can see that PurpleBoard has had a lot of work put into it, but for those used to the iOS interface, PurpleBoard may not be very easy to adopt for users because of the appearance and learning curve required. On the other hand, seeing this kind of customization available for iOS devices reminds us why jailbreaking is awesome and why we continue to do it to this day.

One thing we've noticed is that it runs very well on older devices like the iPhone 4, so if you're tired of the sluggishness and want to breathe new life into your about-to-be-phased-out device, then check out PurpleBoard.

PurpleBoard is a free download from Cydia's BigBoss repository, so if you want to give it a shot and try learning all of the different features involved, go for it!

Crashes when you hit the home button and goes in to safe mode.

Plus there is no icon for messages app. Can't figure out how to add it to the home screen.
