If you love using the Google Maps application for iOS for your navigation needs, but aren't fond of the fact that you need to sign in with your Google account in order to see your navigation history, then check out a new jailbreak tweak called MapsPrivacy for GMaps by iOS developer SpiritOfLogic.

MapsPrivacy for GMaps aims to help protect your privacy by allowing you to save a history of your Google Maps navigation history without the need to sign in to your Google account and allow your location history to sync online with your Google account. Instead, your navigation history is all stored locally on your iOS device in an offline manner.

Even if you're not one to be concerned about privacy, and you simply just don't want to make a Google account to take advantage of this feature, then MapsPrivacy for GMaps could still be a helpful solution to your suffering.

MapsPrivacy for GMaps adds a preferences pane to the Settings application labeled "GMaps+," as you can see below:

From here, you can configure a number of handy features, including:

    • Enable or disable offline navigation history
    • Enable or disable a shortcut for getting to the destination entry
    • Completely disable all Google account sign-in prompts from the application
    • Force Google Maps to remember whether you want to avoid tolls or highways each time you navigate
    • Completely delete all navigation history for your privacy

Adding all of these cool new features to your Google Maps application from the App Store is as easy as coughing up the 99 in Cydia's BigBoss repository for MapsPrivacy for GMaps. Google Maps is required for the installation, and is a free download in the App Store at this link.
