In the next four months, Apple will sell an estimated 70 million units of its next-gen iPhone 6. That's the new projection put forward today by RBC Capital Markets.

With iPhone 6 now just weeks away from its grand reveal at the hands of Apple on what we're told is a scheduled September 9th media event, analyst Amit Daryanani believes the low-end of the range on iPhone 6 sales is 56 million iPhones, while the high end is 70 million.

It's important to note, however, that these estimates are for the remainder of the year. Even 56 million units would be impressive if Apple does, indeed, move that many units just between late September and the end of December.

In the same report, the analyst adds that all signs point to Apple having ordered some 80 million iPhone 6 units, all of which will be produced and ready to ship by year's end. So even if demand proves as strong as projected, Apple should be ready with adequate supplies.

Shortage or not, (pre)orders still count as sales.
