If you've got a slower Internet connection, or have to be careful of your data usage because of cellular provider-set data caps, then you might be interested in a new free jailbreak tweak called NoSafariImages by iOS developer Skylerk99.

While most of us enjoy the luxury of broadband Internet connections, there are those that are stuck on DSL or older Internet connections. There are also those who are consistently out of reach of LTE and 3G connections and get stuck on Edge in many places they visit. These kinds of bottlenecks can make it a real pain to browse the Web because loading images on slower networks can take a while and make you feel like a turtle.

NoSafariImages aims to improve the speed of Web page loading on these users' devices by disabling image loading in the native Mobile Safari Web browser. You will still get to read all of the text on a Web page, but no images will be displayed, so it should load much faster.

The tweak would also come in handy for the poor guy dealing with harsh data caps by their cellular provider. Images can take take up a good chunk of data anywhere from a few Kilobytes to a few Megabytes, and will add up quickly. By disabling image rendering in Mobile Safari, you can ensure that your data usage gets cut down and you'll get more bang for your buck in terms of data usage.

If you ever feel like you want to start seeing images again, the tweak adds a preferences pane to the Settings application where you can easily enable or disable the tweak on demand:

While many of us have high-speed fiber optic or LTE connections at home, it's understandable if this tweak may not be practical for all of you it's really intended for those that really need it, such as those with slower Internet connections and data caps.

If you want to give NoSafariImages a try, it's available for free in Cydia's BigBoss repository right now. iOS 7 is required for the installation.
