Yesterday, Apple begun sending out invites for a September 9th special event. Apple is expected to unveil new products, such as the next iteration of iOS, Mac OS X, and new hardware, such as iPhone 6, new iPads, and more.

If you're as excited as we are for the new special event, then you might be interested in adding a sexy new countdown widget to your iOS 7 Lock Screen. iOS developer Loopers has just released a new Cydget widget for iOS 7 called Apple Event Countdown - Lockscreen Widget and it's completely free for anyone to download from the ModMyi repository.

Shown above, the widget comes with both a light mode and a dark mode – you may want to choose your mode based on the colors in your Lock Screen wallpaper for the best results. In our case, we have a relatively light wallpaper, so the dark mode looks better. On darker wallpapers, the light mode looks better.

The widget counts down to the September 9th special event down to the second. As of this writing, we're 11 days away from the September 9th event, as well as some odd hours, minutes, and seconds. The current time is displayed at the top of the widget, as is a nice little Apple logo and the current date.

You can enable or disable the widget on demand from the Cydget preferences pane in the Settings application, as well as pick your own theme – light or dark. A respring is required any time that you make changes here:

If you want to grab this widget, you can head over to Cydia's ModMyi repository right now and grab it for free!
