You forgot to mention...those that have an iPhone 5s won't be eligible for an upgrade as their phone is only a year old. That's a major one. Full retail price? No thanks. I'll wait for the 6S with the better camera
Nope, I barely have 9 months with my 5S and I'll still be able to upgrade to the 6 Plus using AT&T's NEXT program. Nice try though.
    Sent from my iPhone 4.

Yes, you have to pay full price, but you also get to sell your 5S. You can probably get about $500 for an unlocked 5S in great shape. Then the price difference is only about $150: the price of having the latest.

Actually. Verizon is offering a free iPhone 6 to anyone who trades in their older device up to the 5S and signs a new 2 yr contract. The downside is that it's the 16gb version and it doesn't include the 6+.
It's not limited to the 16GB 6, fromwhat I've read. Verizon basically gives you a $200 creidt, so you could use it for a higher end model and pay the difference.

What I want to know is, do you have to give them the model you currently use with Verizon, or any iPhone? I have a 5S on Verizon, but my wife, who is eligable for an upgrade, has a 5. I was thiking of swapping with her, turning in her 5, and then I get an early upgrade AND a free 16GB 6 (but likely spring for the 64GB) Then we'll sell the 5S and she'll pay upgrade price to get a 6 for herself. In all we'll probably make $200-300 o nthe deal!

Or if I wanted to get really crazy, buy a couple of cheap iPhone 4 models on ebay, trade those on both of our accounts, and sell the 5 and 5S! We could get upgrades AND a pocket full of cash!! But this all hinges on whether or not Verizon requires the specific phone currenly on your account.

Unless you're not going to be running some kind of a case to protect your investment, that shouldn't matter much.

Wow. That's good to know. I had read something different that said the i6+ was not included in that deal. Quite possible they changed it to make it more enticing

The irony in this statement is that Apple's flagship iPhone 6 Plus is actually thicker than the middle-grade iPhone 6.

Isn't 32 GB the smallest storage size? I could have sworn the announced capacities were 32, 64, and 128 GB.

There is no irony. Apple is clearly obsessed with thinness. The phones are thinner every year and is one of their main focal points when designing their phones.

Gotta say, I was eagerly awaiting the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus release, but for me, the 5S is in my opinion (and for my usage) the "Perfect" size. I've owned every iteration of the iPhone so far, 90% of those pre ordered online from apple sim free. This time however, I feel strangely compelled to pass up on the 6 or 6 plus. I've used friends bigger screen phones and they don't fit "nicely" in my jeans pocket and feel too big when holding to my ear. And since I'd use the NFC payments one every 6 months when I visit McDonalds maybe (ha) I have no use for it so I think, for the first time ever in *my* iPhone history... I'm in no rush for the 6 or 6 plus and I see no reason to move up form my 5S.

Think I'll save my pennies for the iWatch as that IS something I want

It seems you're right. Knowing Apple they'll probably also release an 8 GB model in a year or so. I really don't know what they are thinking with keeping the 16GB SKU. 16 GB may have been usable with the 3G/3GS and maybe the 4, but given how big apps have been getting, as has the ever OS/system partition (which means there's less** available to the user than before for the same capacity models), 16 gigs is a downright insult, even to people with small music/video collections / who use Spotify/Pandora/iRadio/etc instead.

It's a way for apple to force more to buy 64 GB and make more $$$
