Although Apple has been signing the iOS 8.1 firmware release for iPhones, iPod touches, and iPads nearly two weeks after the release of iOS 8.1.1 to the public, Apple is no longer doing so as of this Monday evening.

What this means for the jailbreak community is that users running the Pangu8 jailbreak will no longer be able to restore back to iOS 8.1 if they have any problems. Instead, iTunes will force them to restore up to iOS 8.1.1, which can still be jailbroken with TaiG (so, in theory, it's not really much of a big deal that iOS 8.1 is no longer being signed, as the TaiG jailbreak has been deemed safe by several iOS hackers).

Fortunately, this means that those who have to restore will have a jailbreak in the end either way.

iOS 8.1.1 was released to fix problems on the iPhone 4s and iPad 2, although many users all over the Apple Support Forums have also claimed to have gained back storage space after updating.

Battery life on the iPhone 5 seems to have taken a hit!
Have 2 x iPhone 5, both restored to 8.1.1 (from 7.1.2) as 'new devices' and one of them is displaying horrible battery jumps... 100 to 85 it goes smooth and stays there... but from then on, after 15-20 minutes of media playback... drops straight to 40. This never happened on 7.1.2. So having a bad battery is out of the question.
One of the JB apps called 'BatteryLife' showed me 84% total battery capacity (approx 320 cycles) on 7.1.2, but now that value too keeps jumping from 88 to 49% total battery capacity on 8.1.1
Will try to restore again and JB. Hopefully this is not a JB bug and is caused by a faulty restore.
Was going to try 8.1 today but unfortunately Apple has closed the signing window

The iPhone 5 have known battery issues. That's why Apple has issued a recall on them. I've had 3 iPhone 5's replaced because of that issue. It has nothing to do with the jailbreak or iOS 8.

I got my iPhone 5 replaced once in the battery replacement program and I checked it with the new serial number, it shows 'not eligible' for a battery replacement. I have absolutely no idea what to do now. No way am I going to shell out 199$ for another refurb piece.
The quality of Apple products/replacements is going down as each year passes... very disappointing!
This refurb is however valid for a power button replacement where they aren't replacing the entire device.
So in short, they gave me a refurb with a bad battery and a bad power button!

Just jailbroke my 6+ with TaiG. Very easy and smooth to use. Followed the instructions and had no problems with it at all. Updated all my apps with no problem too. Plus MuscleNerd gave his blessing, so all is good. I hope it holds for 8.2 when it comes out.

    Hi,

I have an iPhone 6+ with iOS 8.1 jailbroken with Pangu, is it possible to backup my phone upgrade to 8.1.1 jailbreak using Taig and restore my current phone (including apps, photos, music, jailbreak tweaks etc...)

If yes, is there a step bu step process i could follow.

    Thanks

Tried to get my iPhone 5 replaced when they did have that recall but mine was never eligible for it. Suffering badly with battery life. Hoping to get a new iPhone soon

Hi everyone, updated my 5S to 8.1.1 from 8.1, clean install from DFU mode. Deactivated Find my iPhone, no Passcode, no prints, Airplane Mode. Connected to Windows via virtual desktop, tried to jailbreak but always stuck at 30%. Never continues after that. Did multiple times restore and multiple attemps and always stays blocked at 30%... Anyone had the same issue or knows how to solve this? Can't jailbreak... It simply won't do it... Any help appreciated! Thanks

This is for j3yps: Yes you can backup, restore on 8.1.1 and restore backup. I did it yesterday morning from the 8.1 Pangu jailbreak. Good Luck

Forgot to mention that I did it with the TaiG jailbreak. Lol Just remember to disable Find my iPhone, passcode lock and enable airplane mode. Recommend using 1.0.2 TaiG just in case you forget to uncheck 3K feature in the jailbreak tool. That update allows you to remove 3K if you forget to uncheck it. Good Luck

This is for blue aviator: Question. After you restore are you setting up as new iPhone?Otherwise, I would re-download TaiG v.1.0.2 and try it again.
