The incredibly popular QuickShoot Pro jailbreak tweak by iOS developer caughtinflux has been re-released for iOS 8 Saturday morning.

For those not familiar with this tweak, it allows you to record video and even snap photographs quickly, and even privately, right from your iOS Home Screen. As you take pictures, you will see your camera application icon animate to show when it's focusing and when it has succeeded to take a photograph. If you're recording video, your camera application icon will animate to display the red recording icon on the application icon.

The tweak integrates with Activator in order to let you do these things. You can assign an Activator action to taking pictures or recording video, and then invoke them right from the Home Screen when you're ready.

The tweak adds a preferences pane to the Settings application where you can configure the tweak's options to your liking:

    • Enabling or disabling the tweak on demand
    • Choosing between the front or rear facing camera by default
    • Picking the video quality that will be used for video capture
    • Choosing whether or not the flash will be enabled by default
    • Enabling or disabling HDR by default
    • Enabling or disabling Anti-blur by default
    • Picking Activator actions for snapping photos and capturing videos
    • Enabling or disabling flash screen or Status Bar recording icon
    • Picking an Activator action for showing the camera options
    • Choosing how long the camera options will show up on the display before disappearing automatically
    • Choosing the application icon(s) you want to double-tap to snap a photograph

QuickShoot Pro has been one of my favorite stealthy photography jailbreak tweaks ever released. If you want to give this new iOS 8 version a try, it's available in Cydia's BigBoss repository right now for just $1.49. If you already own QuickShoot Pro, this new version is a free upgrade for you. iOS 8 is required to install this version, although those running earlier versions of iOS can install earlier versions of QuickShoot Pro from Cydia.

What would be cool is if the app shutter can display what we're capturing, it maybe a bit small but we can at least make sure we have an idea what we're trying to capture.
