To add that finishing touch of customization to your Home Screen on your iOS device, check out a new free jailbreak tweak called SpringResearch by iOS developer hiroshit.

SpringResearch will give you the ability to customize the colors of the Status Bar and the application icon labels. The tweak adds a preferences pane to the Settings application where you can select the colors that you want and apply them to your Home Screen, as shown below:

    There are individual options for:

    • The Status Bar foreground color
    • The Status Bar background color
    • The application icon label color
    • Hiding or showing the Status Bar on the Lock Screen

Additionally, you can respring your device from the preferences pane to save your options with the 'Apply' button at the bottom of the preferences pane.

You can create just about any color combination that you want to make your Home Screen look the way you want it to. It's just enough to go nicely with a theme you may have applied, or to make things look nicer with a special wallpaper you may be using.

If you want to give SpringResearch a try, it's available for free right now in Cydia's BigBoss repository. The tweak is compatible with both iOS 7 and iOS 8.
