For those of you that get pulled into group messages a lot, or use the feature frequently, a new free jailbreak tweak called GroupIndicator by iOS developer Josh Doctors could come in handy.

This new jailbreak tweak aims to make it easier to distinguish when a notification is from a group message conversation or not. It allows you to configure a custom prefix for notification banners that are from group message conversations. As you can see in the screenshots above, you normally can't tell that a group message conversation is a group message conversation from the notification banner alone, but this tweak can be used to put a custom text string in the banner to let you know it's a group message conversation notification.

You can configure how the tweak works in the new preferences pane that is added to the Settings application, which we're showing you in the screenshot below:

You can enable or disable the tweak on demand from here, as well as configure a custom string of text to appear in the banner or a group member count. We are showing you both cases in the first screenshot of this post the first one with the "+1" in the banner is showing that our group message conversation has one other person in the conversation, while the second one with the word "Group" in the banner is showing that the message conversation is a group message conversation.

Tapping on the "Save" button is required any time that you make changes to the Settings in this section.

If you are interested in giving GroupIndicator a try, it's available for free right now in Cydia's BigBoss repository. The tweak works on both iOS 7 and iOS 8.
