Whenever you make a new tab in Mobile Safari, you always have to tap in the URL bar in order to start typing to perform a search. A new free jailbreak tweak called TypeTab by iOS developer Andrew Hyatt makes this a little less cumbersome by automating part of the process.

As long as TypeTab is installed, you won't have to tap in the URL bar anymore when opening a new tab in Mobile Safari. Instead, you can just get right to typing what it is that you want to search for.

Over time, you will feel how useful this tweak is, as it eliminates an unnecessary cumbersome step from the process of attempting to perform multiple Web searches as once in Mobile Safari. We've found that the experience feels much nicer with the tweak installed than it does without and with the tweak now installed, we would feel awkward removing the tweak and going back to the old way of doing things. The functionality the tweak brings just makes sense.

If you're interested in giving TypeTab a try, it's available absolutely free in Cydia's BigBoss repository right now the tweak has been tested and verified to work on iOS 8, although the developer notes that it could also work on iOS 7 (untested). The tweak is open source at this GitHub link.
