Popular social media site Facebook has recently announced that they will be launching a new feature for users. The new feature will allow friends to send money to one another via Facebook Messenger. The company noted that with an easy single step, users will be able to send any amount to the recipient. Users who want to utilize this service will need a MasterCard or Visa debit card to associate with their Facebook account. Then Facebook Messenger will have a ‘$’ symbol appear in the chatbox.

No extra amount will be charged on top of the transaction you are making to the recipient. Facebook noted that the feature will only be available to U.S. residents when they launch the new service. The company did not mention whether or not there are future plans of taking this service abroad, but we think if it becomes popular in the U.S. it is likely they will.

Do you think you would transfer funds using the Facebook Messenger app? We’re not sure if we would, considering there have been many cases where Facebook accounts were hacked. Share with us in the comments below.

That's a useful feature but I'd never trust Facebook with my financial matters.

All the info they want and gather. The question is why still use it? I quit using Facebook over a year ago now yes my accounts is still there but haven't checked it and don't care to.

That's because they won't delete your account. They only deactivate your account so if you decided to come back everything is still there and don't have to start over. PLUS if you do anything illegal, the FBI and other law enforcement agencies have access to your account to see what you have been up too.
