I'm wondering which backup battery units people have found to be most useful. I found this review site...

Several backup batteries can extend your daily iPhone 3G use - Ars Technica

    Any comments?

Here's the one I have. It's really bulky but I get at least 1 1/2 charges (2400mAh battery) out of it.

    And it's cheap:

I just got a Mophie Juice Pack Air today. It's so thin, it's like there's not even a battery in the case. Love it.

I ended up buying this one:
Incase - Power Slider Case with Battery for Apple® iPhone 3G - Black - EC20009

DO NOT BUY IT.. Like many others, mine completely died several days after purchasing it. It just does not take ANY charge whatsoever...it says it's fully charge, but then is dead the second you put it on the iphone.

I really like the idea of the case type battery...how do people like the other similar models?

I've been using my Incase Power Slider for two months now without a problem. Every now and then the connection gets a smidge loose and the phone does the charging beep over and over. Just reseat the phone in the case, no biggie. I get through the entire day using 3G often.

The Just Mobile Gum and Gum Pro get excellent reviews on iLounge. The Gum Pro has 4400 mah capacity and sells for about $60. Available on Amazon too.

I highly recommend iMax because it charged my iphone fully for like a hour. The iMax have 5000mAh and got it on ebay for like 45 dollars. Totally worth it. When I took the bus to Mohegans from NY with my friends, thats like 3 hours ride. I was playing games and listening to music the same time. My battery went from full to 45% and I still have like 2 hours to get there. After I plugged in my IMax to iphone and playing game the same time, When I got there, battery is full for my iphone. Worth the money.

I tried other batteries before but recently bought i-up 5400 (5400 mAh) from amazon.

it works great and i was able to charge my iphone 3g about 3 times. Battery came with many connectors that will be able to charge other small devices. It also works with my blackberry curve 8900.

Are you talking about the solar sticker where you stick on the back of the iphone? and it will charge your phone when your on the sun? They dont work. They actually burn your iphone. i bought one of those solar stickers where you put it on the back of your phone and when it feels heat or sun, it will charge. They dont work as well and makes your backplate of the iphone burning.
