The TSA has zero authority on what happens in flight on domestic airliners, that's the FAA jurisdiction. So until the FAA says no, then this is a non-issue and should be refuted at every single opportunity with a TSA agent and the airline representatives. The only thing the TSA can say is that you aren't allowed to take it onboard the aircraft. How can anyone think that the TSA has this authority? They are not part of law enforcement in the skies over this country. They have zero authority over this. I would refute this very loudly, and very rudely. The TSA employs thieves and egomaniacs with badges and can't complete any task assigned to them without either destroying something or infringing on laws already on the books. This department should be abolished at once.
Couldn't have said it better myself!

Since, allegedly, Abdulmutallab had the PETN concealed in his underwear wouldn't it be more prudent to figure out a way to detect and prevent people from getting it on the planes to begin with instead of how to make it more difficult for them to detonate it?

What if it was some explosion noise making app?
That's dumb. That is like saying that a doll is not allowed in an airport because it can be made into a bomb.
Asking for help is different from being stupid. Fanboys can rot in @#$%!

Either you protest stupid rules, and illegal searches and seizures or they take every single right you have. How's that saying go again?

When they came for the Jews, I did nothing, for I am not a Jew.

When they came for the Socialists, I did nothing, for I am not a Socialist.

When they came for the labor leaders, the homosexuals, the gypsies, I did nothing, for I am none of these.

When they came for me, I was alone, there was no one to stand up for me.

--Martin Niemoller, a Lutheran pastor from Nazi Germany

You don't stand up against this kind of crap, that has not produced one single shred of evidence or example of success, and they'll start searching you whenever they feel like. The Patriot Act was the beginning but where will it end?

Ya know I travel to the Philippines almost 3 times a year, to do some scuba diving, I always bring my JB unlocked iphone, they better not restrict it from me, on my flights. its usally a connecting flights from Houston (Hou) to to Tokyo Japan to Manila, with the restriction of the Ipod/Iphone in airlines, the good people like us, can no longer enjoy, those soothing 20 some hour long trips,I can guarantee there will be more incidents involving, stewardess and passengers. since in those flight , there is nothing else to do but sleep, or watch your favorite movie or song from your ipod

Do you think they really can tell the difference of an iPod Touch and an iPhone? They look Pretty similar from a few feet away. plus I don't think they are trained to tell the difference! haha

Next time I fly I'm Screaming at the top of my lungs "I have an iPhone with Bomberman, Detonator, and Bomber 2 installed." all are app store games so detaining me for saying that would be almost certainly illegal. So lets make all smart phones illegal, we are just going to forget about all laptops that can easily have far more apps installed that are unregulated.

that would not be smart. you would most certaintly be taken down by an air marshall or a gang of passengers, just by the words detonator/bomber/bomberman being yelled....do you think the common joe thinks those are video games...i understand you were probably just being sarcastic....but good luck with that
