In addition to iOS 7.0.4, which Apple released to the public on Thursday, Apple has also released a variant release of iOS 6 for the legacy iPod touch fourth-generation.

Dubbed iOS 6.1.5, this minor update addresses the same issue with FaceTime that could cause FaceTime calls to fail under certain circumstances.

Interestingly, iOS 6.1.5 is only for the iPod touch 4g, and not for any other device.

Apple has also released iOS 6.0.2 for the Apple TV with minor bug fixes.

iPod touch 4g users will find the update under the Software Update preferences pane in the Settings application, or it is possible to also update the software through iTunes.

Those who are jailbroken can disregard this minor update.

That's because the iPod Touch 4G is the only FaceTime compatible device that cannot be updated to iOS 7.

    Good point. LOL

It slipped my mind that the iPhone 4 can actually be upgraded. Thanks!

The iPhone 4 can hardly handle the requirements of iOS 7; the iPod touch 4G wouldn't stand a chance.

Apple is copying Android and not allowing an update.

iPhone 4 has 512MB RAM. iPod touch has only 256MB.

So I had the unfortunate experience of having my ipod touch 4g crash and go into recovery mode last night. After fighting to get it to restore through itunes, it finally worked but now I have ios 6.1.5. Before it crashed it was jailbroken but of course now it is not. Since I didn't have a choice but to upgrade to 6.1.5, how should I go about re-jailbreaking my ipod 4g? Will I need to downgrade before I can jailbreak or will one of the older versions still work since the upgrade was so small?

    Thanks for your help,
