    Hello, just had a quick question...

    A friend if mine's 2nd gen iPod touch (mc model if it matters) recently got an issue where the sound through the headphones becomes distorted (tested on multiple headphones). I'm thinking this is most likely a hardware problem than software (since I did a clean upgrade to 4.1 with the same problem).

    It's still under warranty until Christmas. It's also going to the Apple store for service during next weekend. But I had a couple questions hopefully someone can answer before we take it in...

    1. Is there a repair fee on something under warranty?

    2. If it does turn out to be a hardware problem, will they most likely fix it or replace it?

    3. If it does get replaced, is it going to be replaced with the same model (2nd gen) or will they update to the 4th gen?

    And if anyone can answer, that would be great!

    there shouldnt be a repair fee if it is under warranty. They will probably replace it (if they cant fix it). Not sure on what they would replace it with though.

    I don't think that they will give your friend a new iPod touch 4g my friends iPod 2g 16g mb model recently had a problem where the iPod could never restore and we both thought he is going to get a new iPod touch 4g. But when the guy came back it was a iPod 2g 16g mb model so I think the apple store has huge backups of all old devices. He was still under warranty so there was no fee.
