I have a 4th generation touch...The screen is completely cracked...Not to the point where it's unusable but there are places you can see under the glass.....I was wondering if it's worth fixing or just go out and buy a newer 5th generation model? I also need to have the battery swapped out as that no longer holds a charge....So can I get some people's thoughts....

    Thanks

I'd just get a new one. Those iPods are notoriously difficult to fix.

Apple charges $99 for out of warranty repairs on that model. Any size or color. Cowboy will be cheaper though.

Check out this site. $80 for screen, $45 for battery. Not sure how the prices compare with other websites. My friend did a screen in a 4th gen, they aren't too hard. The battery involves soldering and a lot more work. If you do the screen yourself and pay for the battery you'd probably be better off as far as money goes.

Btw, screen replacement kits cost 20 bucks on eBay or other websites.

Yeah. This repair wouldn't be worth it to try to do yourself. Very delicate procedure, especially to someone who has never done one before. I charge $65 at my shop though for the screen replacements and I don't do the batteries. Still need to find the time to practice my soldering.
