From what i understand, the Touch 2G required the external receiver from the Nike kit. Was a case or armband ever made to retain the receiver like the Nano armbands?

Your supposed to wear a nike shoe that has a place for it in the shoe, if yours is compatible it will have a nike apple sign, but I find you can put them on top of your foot in your sock if its tight enough

okay... let's try this again!!!! I hacked my iPhone 3g - not 3gs - to work with the Nike kit. the 3g does not have the receiver built-in like the 3gs which means that you need the receiver from the kit to pair up with the sensor! and from what I can tell, the iPod touch 2g dd not have the receiver built-in either. therefore, I need a case for the touch 2g and Nike+ kit.

No the 2G has it built in as well you just have to turn the nike app on in settings.
