So when I bought my iPod touch 4G, I noticed that it said a gyroscope was built-in now. The iPhone has the gyroscope built-in, and that allows the iPhone to use the Compass, via Compass.app provided by Apple.

I was using iFile and noticed the Compass.app is installed onto the iPod touch 4G already, just it is missing some files, such as the bundles, and the Info.plist. Is Apple ever going to allow the Compass app to show up on the iPod touch 4G? Or maybe would it show up, and work if we had a iPhone user, send us all the files in their Compass.app folder, and applied it into the iPod touch's Compass.app folder?

    Interesting...

Hey, good question. I'd like to see this tried as well

If someone could post the entire folder here that would be great.

    It's located at: /var/stash/applications/compass.app

Funny. I always thought the compass was a separate sensor if you look at iPhone tech specs on Apple.com
    Location:
    Assisted GPS
    •Digital compass
    Wi-Fi
    Cellular
    Sensors:
    •Three-axis gyro
    Accelerometer
    Proximity sensor
    Ambient light sensor
That and the iPhone 3G[S], the first iPhone to have a compass, doesn't have a gyro sensor.

Actually the iPhone uses a magnometer to use as the compass but I think it would be worth a try so yes someone please post the files

Here ya go, pulled it straight out of the 4.1 ipsw (3gs): Download Compass.app.zip from Sendspace.com - send big files the easy way
